Add Collaborators to your Instagram Post

Creating Instagram Collabs (also known as a collab post) is a powerful way to increase the engagement and reach of your content. You can invite up to three collaborators to your Instagram photo posts, reels, or carousels. The invitations are sent and the content appears on your feed immediately after you publish the post. The post appears on the collaborator’s profile and is shared to their followers only after they accept your invitation to become a co-author.

Add a collaborator

Before adding collaborators to your post, review these points:

  • After a post is published through Emplifi Publisher, you must open the Instagram app to make any changes to the post. This means you can only add and manage collaborators before your scheduled post is published through Emplifi Publisher.

  • When the post is published, the collaborator tags appear in the center of the asset. This is because the Instagram API does not have a way to manage the placement of collaborator tags. Video are unaffected by this as they do not display tags.
(info) Due to this limitation, collaborator tags do not appear on the asset in the post preview for Emplifi Publisher.

  • To find the status of a collaboration request, you must open the Instagram app.

For general information about Instagram Collabs, see the official Instagram documentation at https://help.instagram.com/5861247717337470/.

Steps:

  1. In Publisher, after you add an asset to a new post for an Instagram profile, hover over the asset and click Manage tags and collaborators.

  2. Click Add collaborator.

  3. In the search box, (excluding the @ symbol) type the name of the Instagram business account you want to add as a collaborator. Normal public or private accounts can be added using the Add by URL option.

  4. After your collaborators are added, click Done to close the manage tags and collaborators panel.

  5. Confirm your post content is correct, and then click Publish.

The collaboration invitation is sent when your post publishes.

Remove a collaborator

At any time between scheduling your post and publishing your post, you can return to Emplifi Publisher to edit the collaborators on your scheduled post. After the post is published, you must use the Instagram app to remove a collaborator.
