TikTok Spark Ads in Content Feed
TikTok Spark Ads (boosted posts) can appear in Content Feed. These posts are based on an existing organic TikTok post that has been promoted.
Spark Ads can appear in the Feed and Ads sections:
Spark Ads appear in the Feed like other posts. If the post has been promoted, the metrics reflect combined organic and paid performance.
Due to limitations in TikTok’s API, metrics for Spark Ads always include total performance (organic + paid combined). Emplifi cannot currently separate organic and paid metrics for these posts.
In the Ads section, only paid metrics are included for Spark Ads, as the source is the marketing API.
TikTok Spark Ads are created by promoting an existing post. This can be done in two ways:
Boosting a post directly from the TikTok app
Promoting a post through TikTok Ads Manager
TikTok’s API returns a single combined entity that merges the organic post and its paid promotion in Content Feed.
As a result:
Metrics always reflect total performance (organic + paid).
Organic and paid engagement cannot be separated in Emplifi.
Spark Ads appear in Content Feed because they are based on a real organic post.
Only Spark Ads (boosted posts) flow into Content Feed.
Dark posts or ad-only posts that are not based on an organic post do not appear in Content Feed.
Metrics for boosted TikTok posts always represent total performance.
Hidden Organic Posts (Show through ads only)
TikTok provides an option called Show through ads only. When enabled, the original post is hidden from the organic TikTok feed and shown only as an ad.
Note:
This setting can be turned on or off at any time.
Emplifi cannot determine whether the post was previously visible or received organic engagement.
Due to this limitation, posts using this option must still appear in Content Hub.
