Selecting Date Ranges in Flexible Widgets

Flexible Widgets are the helping hand when it comes to data analysis. By being completely flexible with how you display your data, you can take control of your data and make smarter decisions based on the whole story.

Selecting a Specific Date Range

With the adjustable date picker, you can view your social media performance based on suggested time frames, or be entirely flexible and select a date range on the calendar.

To make sure it's all crystal clear, here's a quick explanation for each of the suggested date ranges:

  • Last 7 Days: This selection shows you the previous seven days, counting from yesterday.

  • Last 30 Days: Similarly, this selection shows you the previous 30 days, counting from yesterday.

  • Last 3 Months: This is where it gets a bit different. In this case, you're selecting the entire previous three months (not counting the month that you're currently in). Let's take the example that today is Aug 04, 2020. The Last 3 Months selection shows you everything from May 01, 2020 - Jul 31, 2020.

  • Last Week: Last Week shows you the entire last week (without taking to account this week at all).

  • Last Month: Similarly, the Last Month shows you the entire last month (without taking to account this month at all).

  • Last Quarter: Similarly, the Last Quarter shows you the entire last quarter (without taking to account this quarter at all).

  • This Month: Choose This Month to analyze your data for this month, until yesterday. Let's take the example that today is Aug 04, 2020. This Month shows you the data from Aug 01 - Aug 03, 2020.

  • This Quarter: Similarly, choose This Quarter to analyze your data for this quarter, until yesterday. Let's take the example that today is Aug 04, 2020. This Quarter shows you the data from Jul 01, 2020 - Aug 03, 2020.

  • This Year: Similarly, choose This Year to analyze your data for this year, until yesterday. Let's take the example that today is Aug 04, 2020. This Year shows you the data from Jan 01, 2020 - Aug 03, 2020.

Understanding the Previous Period

For smooth performance tracking over time, all Flexible Widgets indicate a relative change, compared to the previous period. But what counts as the previous period?

  • If you've picked a specific number of days, Last 7 Days, or Last 30 Days, the previous period is the exact number of days prior to the selected date range.

  • Last 3 Months: in this case, the previous period is the three entire months before the selected date range. Let's take the example that today is Aug 04, 2020, and you chose Last 3 Months as a date range. The Flexible Widget shows you the data from May 01, 2020 - July 31, 2021, and the previous period is Feb 01, 2020 - Apr 30, 2020.

  • Last Week / Last Month / Last Quarter: In these cases, the entire week (or the entire month or quarter) accounts for the previous period. Please be aware that you might not compare the same number of days in these cases, e.g., 31-day months vs. 30-day months. Let's take the example that today is Aug 04, 2020, and you chose Last Month as a date range. The Flexible Widget shows you the data from Jul 01, 2020 - Jul 31, 2021, and the previous period is Jun 01, 2020 - Jun 30, 2020.

  • This Month, This Quarter and This Year: Here, the previous period counts as the exact same days, in the past month, quarter, or year. Let's take the example that today is Aug 04, 2020, and you chose This Year as a date range. The Flexible Widget shows you the data from Jan 01, 2020 - Aug 03, 2021 (yesterday), and the previous period is Jan 01, 2019 - Aug 03, 2019.
