Incentivized Reviews

A review is considered incentivized any time the author received a benefit in exchange for writing the review.

In Ratings & Reviews, reviews can get marked as incentivized a variety of ways. Some of these ways include:

Incentivized reviews are clearly marked as such in Emplifi widgets. To change the wording of the text that identifies incentivized reviews, talk with your Customer Success Manager. You can have custom messages for each type of incentivized review.

By default, incentivized reviews say: "This review was collected as part of a promotion".

When should reviews be marked as incentivized?

To comply with FTC guidance, product reviews should be marked as incentivized when the review author receives any benefit in exchange for writing the review.

Benefits can include:

  • Free products or services

  • Samples

  • Coupons

  • Discounts

  • Loyalty points or rewards points

  • Entry into a drawing or sweepstakes

  • Money
