Understand The Paid Content Tactics of Competitors on Instagram
Struggling to decide which Instagram content you should invest your budget in? Having an effective content promotion strategy on Instagram means knowing how your competitors are promoting their own content. Gaining this insight wasn’t always easy, but it’s made possible with Promoted Post Detection for Instagram.
With the Promoted Post Detection feature in Instagram, you can not only quickly and easily understand the paid content strategy of your competitors, but also justify your own promotion budget as a result.
Just like in the case of Promoted Post Detection on Facebook, you can use Promoted Post Detection on Instagram for one page or multiple pages (maximum 10). Simply select the page you want to analyze or go to the “Benchmarks” section and create a comparison. Once your comparison appears, head over to the Promoted Post Strategy part at the bottom of the page.
In this part of the comparison, you can view the Promoted Post Detection graph as well as a side-by-side comparison of the strategy of your analyzed Instagram profiles. In the case of the Promoted Posts Strategy graph, it is best if posts fall under the “Extremely beneficial promoted posts” area of the graph. This means that the promoted strategy of the Instagram profile is on the right track. In the side-by-side comparison chart, on the other hand, we can see how many Interactions on the chosen profiles are due to promoted posts. This can serve as a good indicator of a profile’s promotion strategy - i.e., if a particular profile is promoting heavily but not receiving many Interactions in return, they should reassess their strategy.

Finally, if you are examining one or two Instagram profiles, you will be presented with a breakdown of Promoted as well as Organic posts and be able to see how each Post is performing in terms of Interactions. The higher each dot is positioned, the more Interactions it received (and was likely heavily promoted).
