TikTok Business Hashtags in Listening

TikTok Business hashtags help you monitor hashtag-based TikTok conversations in Emplifi Listening. After you connect TikTok UGC & Listening for a TikTok profile, you can add available TikTok Business hashtags to that profile and then use those registered hashtags as a TikTok source in Listening queries.

This feature is designed for social media and marketing teams who want to track brand, campaign, product, or community hashtags on TikTok without relying only on mentions.

Before you start

Make sure the following are in place:

  • You have access to the TikTok profile in Emplifi.

  • TikTok UGC & Listening is connected for the profile.

  • The profile is a TikTok profile. The Hashtags tab is only available for TikTok profiles when the feature is enabled for your account.

  • TikTok has available Business hashtags for the connected profile.

  • The hashtags you want to monitor are added and activated on the TikTok account.

If TikTok UGC & Listening is not connected, open the profile's Connections tab and connect TikTok UGC & Listening first. You will not be able to manage hashtags for that profile until the connection is active.

Manage hashtags for a Tik Tok profile

  • Go to Settings.

  • Open Social profiles.

  • Select the TikTok profile you want to manage.

  • Open the Hashtags tab.

The Hashtags tab shows the hashtags currently registered for the profile. You can search the list, sort by hashtag, status, active queries, or added date, and see how many hashtags are already in use.

Add hashtags

  1. In the Hashtags tab, select Add hashtag.

  2. In the Add available hashtags window, search or browse the available TikTok Business hashtags.

  3. Select the hashtags you want to add.

  4. Select Add hashtags.

You can add up to 50 active hashtags per TikTok Business Account across apps. If the profile has already reached the limit, remove an eligible hashtag before adding another one.

You cannot type in any hashtag manually from this window. The list contains available TikTok Business hashtags for the connected profile.

Use hashtags in a Listening query

After a hashtag is added and available for Listening, you can use it in a Listening query:

  1. Create or edit a Listening query.

  2. Go to the Sources step.

  3. Enable TikTok.

  4. Select TikTok Business hashtags.

  5. Choose the registered TikTok Business hashtags you want to monitor.

  6. Save the query.

If no registered hashtags are available, the hashtag selector shows that no TikTok Business hashtags were found for your connected profiles. Add hashtags for the relevant TikTok profile first, then return to the Listening query.

Hashtags statuses

The Hashtags tab uses statuses to show where each hashtag is in the setup lifecycle:

Status

What it means

Pending

The hashtag was added recently and is still pending activation. During the first 24 hours, it is locked and cannot be removed.

Added

The hashtag has been added to Emplifi and is available, but it is not currently used in an active Listening query shown in the table.

Active

The hashtag is used in one or more active Emplifi Listening queries. Active hashtags cannot be removed while those queries use them.

Error

The hashtag could not be registered or has an error returned by the connection. Hover over the status to see more detail when available.

The Active queries column shows which Listening queries are currently using a hashtag. If a hashtag is active, remove it from the relevant Listening query before trying to remove it from the profile.

Remove hashtags

You can remove hashtags from the Hashtags tab when they are eligible for removal.

To remove one hashtag:

  1. Find the hashtag in the list.

  2. Select Remove.

  3. Confirm the removal.

To remove multiple hashtags:

  1. Select the checkbox next to each eligible hashtag.

  2. Use the bulk action bar to remove the selected hashtags.

  3. Confirm the removal.

Removed hashtags are no longer tracked for that profile. You can add them again later if they become available.

Why hashtags cannot be removed

A hashtag may be locked or unavailable for removal when:

  • It is still pending activation during the first 24 hours after being added.

  • It is within 7 days after activation. TikTok hashtags cannot be removed during this period.

  • It is used in an active Listening query.

  • It was added through a third-party tool and the linked reference is not available in Emplifi.

Hover over the lock icon or disabled checkbox to see why a specific hashtag cannot be selected.

Troubleshooting

I do not see the Hashtags tab

The Hashtags tab appears only for TikTok profiles when the feature is enabled for your account. Confirm that you are viewing a TikTok profile and that you have access to the profile.

I see a prompt to connect TikTok UGC & Listening

Open the profile's Connections tab and connect TikTok UGC & Listening. After the connection is active, return to the Hashtags tab.

No hashtags are available to add

There may be no TikTok Business hashtags available for the connected profile. Check that TikTok UGC & Listening is connected for the correct profile. If the connection is active and the list is still empty, there are currently no available TikTok Business hashtags to add for that profile.

The hashtag list failed to load

Select Try again in the Add available hashtags window. If the issue continues, check the TikTok UGC & Listening connection for the profile.

I cannot select TikTok Business hashtags in a Listening query

Confirm that TikTok is enabled as a source in the query and that TikTok Business hashtags is selected. If the selector is empty, add available hashtags from the profile's Hashtags tab first.

I reached the 50-hashtag limit

Remove an eligible hashtag before adding a new one. Hashtags that are active in Listening queries, newly added, or temporarily locked cannot be removed until the blocking condition is resolved.
